Auto Body Shop thrives during lockdown - Interview with CEO Ronald Marquez
The COVID-19 epidemic has impacted many businesses across the globe making the financial industry look grim. But because not everything has taken a negative turn, we’ve aimed to try and interview businesses that are thriving, despite the lockdown and economy shutdowns. One such business is Ronald’s Auto Body. And today we are interviewing Ronald Marquez, CEO of Ronald’s Auto Body, a company that serves Beverly Hills and surrounding areas as a premier auto body shop. Below you can see the interview in more detail.
Evi: How long have you been in the automotive industry?
Ronald: Automotive has always been of interest to me personally. I started my career 26 years ago and up until this day I feel motivated and inspired by what the industry has to offer.
Evi: Who do you look for mentorship?
Ronald: Mentorship is a very important requirement when you want to grow your business. I personally try to look for experienced mentors that know how to create self-value and give your business direction, and potential in the market.
Some of my mentors are people who I follow digitally, while at the same time I know in my personal life many successful businessmen ,whom I also consider mentors. It is important to me that I engage with inspirational people who are ahead of me in the business game so that I can also improve my skills.
Evi: Your shop is one of the most beautiful shops. How did this come to be?
Ronald: One of the most important values I have is to enjoy giving our clients and our team members an impeccable high-quality and value-unsurpassed service.
Aesthetics facilitate this exceptional experience and, thus, for us aesthetics are everything. Aesthetics and quality of service combined can give our clients the best experience.
We invest a lot to get the right look that is unique. In one of our current projects we just added one of my porsches as a decoration above the building. And we have a lot more coming up.
Evi: How do you manage having family working with you in your body shop locations?
Ronald: When you combine family with business you get a superior level of service. The focus changes from having a successful business to providing clients, neighbors and your communities an honest, and a family-like treatment.
We know what it’s like to work with family and that helps us treat our customers like family as well.
Evi: Your son, Steven Marquez is stepping up big time in your shops. What’s that like?
Ronald: My son Steven is receiving advanced training from industry mentors for some time now with advanced technologies, software, and equipment. I consider myself an expert in this industry but my son will surpass me. He’s starting younger, and he invests in a training I never received when starting. And he knows technology and marketing really well too.
I make sure the marketing agency we have, Mundesigns, and their CEO, Joe Munoz, help us to not only get more clients but also give our current clients a great experience digital and brand-wise. The experience of having your son by your side is like no other. And there is no bigger reward to see him developing and having a bright future ahead of him.
Evi: Tell us about your new brand
Ronald: We loved our previous logo. But it was made over 10 years ago. We got Mundesigns and one of their Graphic Designers, Valentina Posada, to go over it and they came up with exactly the look we wanted. We studied fonts, I had a logo I had seen but wanted them to tweak it a little. We approved it with my son and went from there.
The process takes time but it’s worth it. It’s another form of saying, “We are different. We offer excellence. We are staying ahead of the curve technology-wise.” The result was greater social media performance for our shops and that means also a younger clientele.
Evi: What makes RAB state of the art?
Ronald: We pride ourselves in having high standards when it comes to customer service. For this reason, our employees get constant training to always provide the best quality of work, while our vehicles have received multiple certifications. Our technicians are well trained and certified, while we use advanced software and manufacture repair equipment. We want to provide the best quality possible so we only collaborate with the highest quality paint Brands.
Evi: Why is it so important that your shops are certified?
Ronald: Having our shop certified is a big accomplishment because it gives clients peace of mind. It shows that we genuinely provide what we promise to our clients building a trustworthy brand name for our business. Our employees have been validated regarding their skills, our training is ensured to bring valuable insights on business operations, and our equipment and customer satisfaction policies can guarantee state of the art service with the honesty and integrity of a family business.
Evi: What’s next for RAB?
Ronald: Our future goals include the expansion of our business adding more locations so that we gain greater outreach, while at the same time build a luxurious automotive collision repair dealership by enhancing our marketing and sales operations. We expect great results from now on and we will work even harder to get closer to our ambition.
